An Act to amend the laws of Swaziland regarding sentences upon conviction for statutory offences.

1. Short title

This Act may be cited as the Revision of Penalties Act, 1952.

2. Deletion of minimum punishments

Any words in any penal section of any law directing that upon conviction a mini­mum punishment shall be imposed, are hereby deleted.

3. Powers of courts to impose fines

(1)If any penal section of any law directs that upon conviction the sentence to be imposed shall be imprisonment but does not provide for the imposition of a fine, any court passing sentence in pursuance thereof may sentence any convicted person to payment of a fine or in default of payment thereof to imprisonment not exceeding the maximum set out in such section.
(2)The maximum fine which may be imposed in terms of sub-section (1) shall be that set out in the Schedule.
