1. Short title
This Act may be cited as the Change of Place Names Act, No. 23 of 1970.2. Interpretation
In this Act—“Minister” means the Minister for Local Administration; and“place” includes a street.3. Change of names (Schedule)
4. Powers of Registrar of Deeds and Surveyor-General
The officer in charge of the Deeds Office for Swaziland and the Surveyor-General appointed in terms of section 3 of the Land Survey Act, No. 46 of 1961, are hereby empowered and directed to alter the names of the places set out in column 1 of the Schedule as provided for in section 3 wherever such names appear in their records and in any deed, diagram, or other document in their possession at any time and relating to land or any rights in or over land in Swaziland.5. Minister to fix the date of changes in names
6. Amendment of Schedule
The Minister may, from time to time by notice in the Gazette, amend the Schedule:Provided that no such amendment shall come into force until it has been approved by the resolution of the House of Assembly, and a resolution of the Senate; andProvided further that such resolution shall not be required where the spelling of a name listed in the Schedule is changed.History of this document
